I think Split should have been on the list. But I agree with number 1.
TheRedPotato180 : (3 days ago)
As I've learned from watching psychological horror movies . They never have a good ending . They always have a cliffhanger of some sort

So glad to see Jacobs ladder is on the list. I feel like its one of the most understand psychological movies out there.
Holly Hansen (4 days ago)
I think Hide and Seek should at least have been an honorable mention.
Abed Khalifeh (5 days ago)
Why the hell isn't Suspiria in that List ?
RebelBelle (6 days ago)
Rosemary’s baby is a wonderful movie
Ailisa McCain (8 days ago)
It rubs the lotion on it's skin or else it gets the holes again. 👏👏👏
Alyssa Graves (10 days ago)
Silence of the Lambs should be #1
Captain Drama (6 days ago)
At least it made it into top 3
Deeper•Space (11 days ago)
I wish that the movie Cure For Wellness was at least an honorable mention. That movie dove graphically deep into psychological horror and it still scares me until this day. The story behind it was gripping as well, but it's still the only movie I've ever watched that made my skin crawl to the point where I couldn't finish the movie twice! It deserves to be spoken of for this list. Edit: adding 1408 as a mention was the best!! That movie was so goddamn good! A really kinda gave me my current paranoia of hotels.

Oculus 2013, watch it if you have not.

Jacob's ladder inspired the Silent hill franchise and games. It's so frustrating that it's getting a remake because there really is no fucking need to
Flashy Fireworks (16 days ago)
In the future I totally expect Hereditary to be on all lists like this. It's one of the few modern movies that's given me the same kind of chills as The Shining, The Silence of the Lambs and the like.
Robert E Lee (16 days ago)
I agree with these, but was surprised to not see a movie that has haunted me for some 35 years now and portrays the supernatural, religious, and sheer madness in a very real way. And that is THE EXORCIST.

discobaby795 (17 days ago)
Mmm... Where’s “Mullholand Drive” and “Hereditary”?
John Agudelo (17 days ago)
IDC what people say, Mother! was the most intense visceral experience I had with a movie and I loved it!
Nick Carlson (17 days ago)
There has been a few Family Guy references about Black Swan, especially about THAT scene!

I thought Requiem for a dream would be here. Honestly, those last 25 minutes are absolutely horrifying cause all characters end up being prisoners and victims of their own mistakes and poor decision-making. Those electroshocks, the ass-to-ass sequence, Harry's infected arm and the fucking music. Beautifully horrible
Jeannine Lockridge (17 days ago)
The Silence of the Lambs should be #1. The Shining was TERRIBLE. It was a slap in the face to Stephan King. Get Out should be on this list.
Riley Bear (18 days ago)
Honestly, rosemary’s baby fucked me up so much when I saw it a few years ago; I’m 30, and have seen so many old and new horror films in general, but that one just fucks with your head and ...uhhhg it still keeps me up late at night. There is no hope. Not a single ounce of it; she legit does everything she possibly can to protect that baby but it’s just too late. She never stood a chance. And that feeling of overwhelming dread and knowing the bad guys won...it messes with you. I thought it wouldn’t be scary because it’s an older film, but...oh boy was I dumb af Damn you Mojo for reminding me of it.
Wesley Houghton (18 days ago)
Damn, I was hoping Annie in 'Hereditary' would have made the list.
Mr cs93 (16 days ago)
*tongue click*
Adanus (18 days ago)
Still don't get what's the big deal with The Shining. I think there's better psychological horror films than that movie. The only reason why that movie is alway on number 1 or 2 at top's is because Kubrick made the film. Enough said.
Jenny Moreno (18 days ago)
Is the upcoming Joker film going to fit into this category?
James Cook (18 days ago)
The Blair Witch Project isn't on the list. Thank God.
MangaSword8 (18 days ago)

i don't know if they are psychological horror, i mean for the characters for sure but not sure if for the viewer

Psychological thrillers / torment is our favorite genre of movies😋👌🏽
I watched the shining for the first time fairly recently, and it really does shake you. You can’t look away, and the music really gets to you too. It’s over all pretty hard to describe correctly i would say
Alejandro Jacobo-Ramos (18 days ago)
I love Black Swan so much!
advenia sabiana (18 days ago)
Black Swan and Misery is a psychological horror-thriller that is always my favorite film. Natalie's acting made my mentallity breakdown and feel depressed like a sick person because it was too ambitious, and Kathy Bates could cheat people with her face. Thank God, they deserve the Oscars. those films are their best performances.

How about Birdman
Riley Smiley (18 days ago)
I have always been a fan of psychological thrillers, but never thought about psychological horror.. But yes, I can see the distinction now... However I would put Silence of the Lambs and Rosemary's Baby as psychological thrillers, but it is a fine line as they both deal with horrific situations... Basic Instinct, Fatal Attraction, Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Single White Female and Final Analysis are all classic examples of psychological thrillers... I'm gonna go check if you've done a psychological thrillers list now...
James William (19 days ago)
The Others has bone chilling twist; great timing and good acting
chanel henderson (19 days ago)
Maaaaannnn The Babadook scared the shit outta me😢😢😢 but the metaphor for grief was something beautiful and real. I mean how many people suffer from grief? WatchMojo got on a roll once they hit The Others. Which i think is a classic. Misery? come on Kathy Bates had that Oscar in her hand soon as she came on scream. Black Swan was aaawwwwweesome. Again real life how many people desire to be perfect? Silence of the Lambs masterpiece clearly. Couldnt get into Rosemarys baby. Like the Excorist i thought it was boring and not scary. The Excorcist was just gross. THE SHINING IS KING!!!!! i know every single word and Jack is one of my fav actors

BreeAnna Johnson (19 days ago)
Sad High Tension wasnt on this list
Sarthak Raut (19 days ago)
Scilence of the lambs.
Bogdan Stojanovic (19 days ago)
what is the movie with that bear
The Babadook was so good! I was truly terrified when I realized the monster was basically inside her.
Brandon Die-kasten (19 days ago)
My main problem with this list is that Silence Of The Lambs is a crime thriller, not a horror movie. Same with Hannibal and Red Dragon.
Rich (19 days ago)
there are so many. one of my faves was Spielberg's "Duel" .Simple, but oh god the tension he builds in that film is utterly flawless. Psychological horror at its finest. !!

Mulholland drive could be on the list too
Arko Pan (20 days ago)
Paul Christman (20 days ago)
Lotsa good films here. Another terrific one is "Les Diaboliques" (1955), which is one of the best French horror films ever made. Hitchcock was pissed off over missing out on the opportunity to direct it. I always mention my personal all-time favorite horror flick, "The Screaming Skull" (1958). I admit that it's largely a matter of nostalgia on my part since I was barely nine years old when I first saw it on the tube, but it does make decent use of the themes of uncertainty, isolation, and psycho-emotional instability along with plot elements from "Rebecca" , "Suspicion" and "The Spiral Staircase".
Joseph Veron (20 days ago)
I definitely think mother! should be on the list, it has stuck with me ever since I saw it and I still continue to think about it to this day
Phill Borov (20 days ago)

Fully agree with the list (awesome!) but can we just request you not to show the endings or the giveaway scenes in these (e.g. Others, Misery)? They spoil the fun for those who haven't experienced these gems yet. Thanks! :)
guibox3 (20 days ago)
Misery was good but fitting this category better than Jacob's Ladder?? I don't even think so. Jacob's Ladder should have been in the top 5. And though The Shining may be good. A 'decent into madness' was NOT what the book was about at all. Kubrick took a ghost story focused on the power of Danny and turned it into a story about cabin fever's effect on Jack Torrance. Ugh

SPOILERS!!!!!!! Man, say it SPOLERS!!!!!
Steve Dawson (20 days ago)
The Babadook is masterful. Really one of the best horror films of the last decade.
Pixaley Anderson (20 days ago)
Another 10 should include IDENTITY, 8mm, Perfect Stranger, and others of that messed up psychological hellishness being substituted as common place or the norm.
norris holliday (20 days ago)
The Shining is soooo overrated
JC How (20 days ago)
It was nice to see Eraserhead as an honorable mention. That's my favorite movie.
Ryan Corrigan (20 days ago)
Fun to watch but not really scary.
Mitchell Hardcastle (20 days ago)
i see there's no love for physcho
Sanyi (20 days ago)
Do you really have to spoil every ending for no reason at all???
WolfVIII (20 days ago)
I SWEAR I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT THE SHINING!!! I watched it a couple of years ago because I started watching classic horror movies and because I like Nicholson's work. But The Shining left me seriously disappointed. Most of the movie was boring, the wife was terrible (acting wise), and the kid incredibly annoying, irritating. I think the last 20 minutes of the movie are worth a watch. I've seen people say how great this movie is and I fail to see why. What do people see so excellent about this movie? I asked my brother to watch it with me again last year and asked for his thoughts. He said it was like seeing a bunch of nothing and a total waste of time. From this list I have only seen The Silence of the Lambs and The Shining, and I can tell the former is a better psychological horror than the later.... At least for me.
Brownd Beanz (20 days ago)
Bug by William Friedkin should seriously be on this list.
Ashli Caldwell (20 days ago)
Whoever is scared of the shinning has to be one of the biggest pussies ever. It's boring as hell. Pet sematary is 1000% scarier and it's still not scary. Nostalgia should be left out of these videos.
Melia Kapri (20 days ago)
Silence of the lambs is a good movie, but definitely overrated
Windom Earl (20 days ago)
It should be more of Lynch's movies on this list, especially Mulholland drive.
Rosa Schot (20 days ago)
i wanna watch black swan but i'm so scared lmao
