In this video men's style, grooming, fitness and lifestyle expert, Aaron Marino of IAmAlphaM, AaronMarino, and Pete & Pedro takes viewers on a field trip with $20 in his pocket. He's going to thrift stores to see what he can put together.
Alpha gives a bit of his background. He came from a family didn't have any extra money, but he was into looking good and clothing. He always went to thrift stores as he could find cool stuff that fit his budget; however, he didn't get shoes or jeans from thrift stores. You don't need a lot of cash to look like a million bucks. It takes hunting, pecking, and picking, and you do need to wash all items before wearing.
Thrift Storing Pro Tips
1. Wear a simple plain tee shirt because a lot of times dressing rooms aren't available
2. Even though items are categorized by size, everything has been shrunk. You may need to size up.
He hit the thrifting jack pot! The total cost was $17.66! He displays and models what he found: slate gray button-up which the fit and style are remarkable, wool sweater that's fun, and a combo of fitted button down, navy silk tie, and charcoal v-neck sweater.
Palm to face... alpha come on bro.... never use a half Windsor knot.... always ALWAYS use a full Windsor with a dimple. It takes practice to get it the right length and to get the knot small enough but it's worth it I promise. Also the eldritch knot can look pretty cool to if it's paired with the right outfit like a nice pocket square
Yo, this is the truth... especially when your loosing weight and your wardrobe needs a refresh every 6mo... dropped 100lb over 2 years... thrift was the savior and definitely some great budget style when you're patient and just grab a few pieces at a time like my boi alpha showed... HAPPY HUNTING
This just confirms what I always thought:
Looking good is expensive, either you don't have the body and you go find some fitting (expensive) clothes to look good, or you go thrift shopping or buy cheap clothes but work on having a nice body (less expensive unless you count the time spent lol)
I need help shopping for my bf in another country. Im going in april. Thid is so helpful. Looked so nice on you. Keep up the styling videos. Also a dress shoe, casual shoe, and sneaker video pairing with outfits would be nice. Ill check ur channel bc im a new subscriber
In my country its shame to go in that places and disgrace... Problem its we are all very poor , Country its in so bad place now....But all will judge you when they see you there, i don't buy there at all, i work so i may afford new stuff, nothing special its cheap most of the time but ok.. And on the way home one time i was with mom and she wanted just to see what they have.. She don't care about what she wears at home, so don't wanna spend money for that and so on .... We are in the store like 20 min and from what i saw young girls there were so fucking ungraceful to parents and full of hate towards them for not being to afford new stuff, its a fucking clothing.... material and its not shame in going there, when i was there i saw much amazing stuff for cool price... nice of u alpha for making this video, keep it up i love when someone understand.. sorry i can's speak eng properly
Well, black clothes look better on guys with tan or dark skin than really pale ones for example, and white dudes don't look good with dreadlocks (which is a hairstyle, but whatever). White clothes also tend to create too much of a contrast to black people's skins compared to whites'
I was talking about the items in general in terms of style, not the specific ones Alpha bought. And I brought up races and hair colors because there are certain clothing colors that look amazing on one race and hair color, but terrible on others and vice versa. The items here however look great on anyone
George here from Australia. We call Thrift shops Op(opportunity)shops.I play guitar solo in restaurants and clubs. Can’t tell you how many great silk shirts I’ve bought in these shops for around $2 that look so dressy in these situations.
When I was younger, me and my family would each summer spend a couple of weeks in our summer cabin, and there was a thrift shop some kilometers away that we visited every single time. It was actually a pretty cool "attraction", and I bought a sweater the first time I visited the place that I absolutely loved and lasted for almost 3 years until it got rough. I even bought a candelabrum there as a birthday present for my mom.
I don't know what thrift stores people keep finding all this cool shit at. Every time I've been to one, the men's section is a bunch of size 58 tweed jackets that haven't been in style since 1985, racks upon racks of 4XL button up shirts in every conceivable garish print, and a bunch of tired looking sweaters.
I just watched this video. I'm not sure if you'd respond or even see this after so long, but you helped me step my style up massively. I do not have a lot of money as I have to support my parents and myself, but thrift stores are something I never thought about for "classy" style. Thank you, Alpha.
Dang your last outfit looks like you pulled it out from one of your previous videos. Really can't tell the quality difference. You should do more videos like this and you were really lucky to find all that nice fitting clothing!
I would love more videos like this. I'm a college student and a musician so money is always tight for me. Even a $10 shirt hurts to buy sometimes but I have an image I like to try and keep at my gigs (just cuz I'm a broke kid doesn't mean they need to know that). I would love more videos like this.
The slate gray button up was BY FAR the best choice, the cheapest AND best looking <3 Can anyone help me look for a similar one plz, the ones I found are $40+ or $200+! And look far from as good as this one.
