I've been with my wife for 15 years...now she wants a divorce. She's mentioned divorcing and possibly getting back together at a later time. Kind of a "what if?" scenario...me, nope. No way. I'm not gonna go through hell in order to get over her only for her to go and do whatever...then MIGHT want to be with me again. Once I'm over her, that's it. There is zero chance I'd put myself out on the line again with her. "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me".
My grandparents got divorced and married other people but it is very obviouse they wished they would be together again and regret it deeply. But now cant do anything about it since they are married to other people.
What a lovely story.
My late FIL had a brother who didn't get along with his wife, so he built a house next door to her.
They never divorced, they never dated outside of their marriage, they just could not live together under the same roof once the stress of marriage/kids/life/etc... past the honeymoon stage set in.
He ran a business from home (construction) and the day in and day out of constantly seeing each other, arguing over everything, well it just took its toll on them. He'd blow up if anyone made noise while he worked or moved things and felt meetings at home didn't look professional enough and cost him some lucrative jobs.
She resented him under foot and not being able to run the house properly . Meetings at all hours, people not caring they were in a home and messing things up, and her kids being yelled at by anyone they dared make noise around.
so he finally got the big job, built a modest house/office next to her house , and things improved.
They liked the arrangement so much they kept it that way.
They got along just fine after he moved into his house next to her. He'd come over for Sunday supper, spent time with the kids, they'd go out, went to church, attended family functions, etc... and were happy together, but apart.
This video came out the day after my girlfriend and I broke up. We're still in love with each other. No one fell out of love. We didn't want to go our separate ways. But we decided that now isn't the right time for us to be together. I really hope we end up like them❤️
My grandparents meant in middle school during Jim Crow era. They got together even thought my grandfathers mother didn’t like my grandma because she was too “dark.” They got married and had my mother in the 70s and then Had twins shortly after. They lived a normal happy life until they got divorced in the 90s. They were divorced for 3 years and during that time my grandfather had a brain aneurysm and they thought he wasn’t gonna make it, but he did. They ended up getting remarried that same year. And they were good and happy until my grandfather died last summer. My grandmother was heartbroken but she’s still kickin. They were together for 50 sum years, and have know each other most of their lives, and we’re even born with in 2 weeks of each other. That’s the shortened version. I always thought my grandparents love story would make a great book. 🙂😢
My grandparents got engaged after knowing each other for 2 weeks. Then they ended up being married together for over 20 years. Had my father then almost immediately got divorced. Then they remarried 7 years later then had my uncle. My grandfather passed from colon cancer a week after my parents honeymoon. My grandmother is still with us. It kind of a funny story when you think about it.
It happens a lot more then people realize. I was sitting at work the other day with a co worker and my boss. My boss started talking about the mother of his children and how they got married twice. My co worker said I did the same thing with my husband. I said well now y’all are gonna think I’m saying this to be cool but I’ve done the same thing. I’m the only one currently with that person though, they each got divorced again. I heard a statistic that said most of the time when people get back together it was the male that ended it in the first place. It is said that when women end the relationship it’s usually over.
KatsObsession I’ve never been married, hell i’m only 21 but i’ve been through a long term relationship that was 2 years of the best times and the end was painful but somehow we found the way to staying friends and become the best friends we were before we started dating. Anyways, my point is the hard times make whatever comes a little less painful, whether you endure or fall apart you grow a little bit. Whether you know it or not, we always learn a little something from the people we meet and connect with, anyways I hope for the best for you and your husband and kids and for the hard times to pass as they do :)
Yes, I agree. Somebody in the comments said, "Can we make this a movie." I agree greatly on that. And I heard the title already. The man said it, he said. The End Is Never The End. I think that would be a great title that will ultimately catch the eye of seekers, seeking comfort as such. I have to say this reminds me of The Notebook. The powerful structure of character and build. Sadly, of course, The Notebook had an ending that is just too depressing to comprehend. I wish this couple even more years on top of what they have already accumulated from their life. :) Thank you for sharing your story.
