Can you believe I've now been wearing lolita fashion for A WHOLE DECADE?! :'D Sharing my stories about what the world of lolita fashion was like ten years ago. Support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/princesspeachie SMALL NOTE: The brand image of the Mary M dress and the black-red err "lolita" shirt are not actually photos of the items I wanted back in 2008, but after searching forever it seems the real images have been lost through time. :P My Outfit: JSK/Headbow = "Dream Fantasy" by Angelic Pretty, Blouse = Bodyline, Wig = Dreamy Wigs, Accessories = Milky Tales, Cute Can Kill, handmade BGM = Epic Yarn, Paper Mario TTYD, Animal Crossing NL, Mario Party 6

I've loved lolita for years, but only recently had the money to buy it. That being said, I actually think the community has gotten a lot harsher. I was at a panel at a local con and the panelist actually got really snippy with a gril with chronic pain who asked for advice on what to do on days where it hurt too much to wear. she was told 'if you can't get over it, you must not want it that bad'. There's also a lot more of a stigma around wearing anything that looks cheep and I've seen a lot of new lolitas leave feeling like crap because of nasty comments. I still love the fashion and always have, but I would love to see the community in my area change more. Because of all this I don't go to meet ups and rarly talk to other lolitas.

My first and second lolita dresses were both hand. But the first dress was very ita and the second one is a country/classic. I still wear it once in awhile. Now I’ve got gothic and classic dresses. I’m all over the place.

Omg. From 2010 - 2014 I was sooo into the Lolita fashion, like I would watch videos, and look up “Lolita fashion,” on google. I was so in awe, but since I was 12 at the time, I couldn’t afford even to buy a bodyline item lol. Around 2013, I had bought my first outfit and wore it out to this harajuku walk we had in my city. I felt so cute in it, but my wig I had made me look like I had a big head lmao. As I grew out from that phase, I stopped using this account, and began selling my bodyline pieces. I just signed into this account to see what was going on, and your video appeared! Watching your videos bring me back to simple times, when I didn’t have to worry about so much!

I was into Lolita... Yeah I was a Gothic-shop ita, a lace monster. Since English is not my first language and I wasn't that good I used to do my research in my mother tongue and it was hard. I ended leaving but... Then I started to slowly research and, well I'm back.

I love this video! Especially the online community of the earlier 00s. I wasn't into Lolita but just general Asian fashion and Korean culture as a whole which wasn't big at all outside the Asian community. The Hallyu wave hadn't hit the general west yet. I remember the forums (it was called soompi for me) and the forums on fashion, people opening "shops" and having to order things in batches and you'd basically be sending cash to a stranger so they could order from a wholesale website from Korea or Japan. Lol! The whole process probably took a month. Now with the click of a button you can get anything from sites like gmarket/yesstyle. Suffice to say you also had a high chance of getting iffy quality. I still have a few prices from there. It was also called "Fobby Style" then which I think would be Politically Incorrect now but the community into Korean culture in particular circa 2004 was mostly Asian American and "Fob" was used with pride. Like you I am thankful for the relative anonymity of it because i posted some really cringy stuff in there.. assumptions about Korean culture or fashion disasters. But everyone was there to help you learn and grow. I wouldn't want to be the teen growing up today who is judged for all this today although as an adult I really enjoy Facebook group's too! (I still love Korean culture, lived there 5 years; and Asian fashions.. mostly strictly Korean now although I love your Lolita videos Peachie!)

When I first got into lolita fashion I think you were one of the first lolita youtubers I’ve stumbled on a few years ago and loved so so much. I love how sweet you are. You are one of the reasons that also inspired me to create a lolita YouTube channel which I am having fun with and hope one day I can share my long kawaii journey to my subscribers as well like you 💖 thank you for being you 💖💖

Same problem. Got a sailor lolita dress. Expecting the fabric to feel soft and comfortable. It arrives in, not a box, but a zipped up folder in a beat up box. The dress came with a a bow to pin under the sailor cape. Not a petty coat or anything else. It also felt like costume fabric. Yep. That cheap walmart kid costume fabric. I still wear it.. but not as often. I use 2 tu-tu's as make shift petty coats... as for my hair, i put a skeleton pin in it, wear some kneesocks with black boots and i was set.

I miss old school so much </3 it was simple and girly, yet really a defined style. Now everything became so glamourous and can be really intricated, which is not bad buuut is really different. I didn't really noticed that while getting throght the fashion evolution, but at some point I looked back and I was like "o-m-g this fashion has changed A LOT"

Wow, the years do go by! I've been watching you since I was 14, and now I'm 19. I remember when I watched your first video, so magical! It made me realize how much I loved lolita fashion. Lolita has made me more confident about being myself and wearing what I like without worrying about what others may think. I've found myself shifting more towards Gothic lolita as I've grown older (Not like it is today though haha, I prefer old-school MMM), but I still love those super sweet Angelic Pretty prints from 2010-2014. Milky Planet and Milky Berry are still my dream dresses!
Lala (9 months ago)
Omg I'm also 27, and discovered the scene about 10 years ago. I had a love-hate relationship with the Lolita community online, because there was so much drama and rules, and I'm more attached to subcultures that center around music than fashion. I still like the general aesthetics, but prefer to mix it up with other things that I like wearing every day.

I have 10 years on the fashion too <3 OH MY GOSH 7:29 I KNOW HER xD I knew it via the internet from years ago via livejournal but I almost did not talk to people outside my country because I speak very badly English (to this day I speak English poorly, meh) but last year I went to london and met her and the girls that I only saw in the past in livejournal s2 SaiSai still exists but BUT ONLY SELLS MORE PUNK THINGS and some taobao dress but everything above the value. DO NOT GO ON SAISAI FOR GOD'S SAKE! And I loved your video s2 I'm not recording anything for yt, well I'm a youtuber lolita from brazil and I record in portuguese for the girls of here, and I thought to make this video in the brazilian version. Because 10 years ago the girls here did not use the LJ were still wearing here Orkut (other social media) Congratulations on your 10 years in fashion s2

Omg I remember back in like 2013 when I was just fairly new to lolita and you were my lolita idol, we had a few conversations on facebook/skype and you showed me that second coord. Oh my goodness I remember Sai Sai :o I hope it is still there... A lot of this is how I was back in the 2000s, but I didn’t have the perseverance to push through the ita phase (I’m probably still in it...) I love how you found yourself in lolita, you seem so happy with who you are <3

Awww bless your little 17 year old heart, you were trying.💕 I got “out” of lolita about five years ago and “graduated” to fairy kei. It just suits me better and I don’t have to deal with the “mean girl litas” in my area. My 11 year old is into the fashion though, she’s freaking adorable! Peace, love, and lace my dear
SparkeyNotes (9 months ago)
It's interesting to see how far the fashion itself has come. There is definitely a new standard of the amount of detail that should come on a dress. Oh man some of my first coords (if you could even call them that) were absolutely embarrassing xD but we all start somewhere!!!!!

Oh wow this is making me feel so nostalgic. I totally bought my first dress off eBay and I think it was from momo's too. 😅 And I'm pretty sure the forums your talking about is lolitafashion.org. I spent so much time on there, way back when. lol
Plain Popcorn (9 months ago)
I was active in the lolita community from age 19 to 24-ish, then stopped because of severe body image issues and my clothes have been sitting in my wardrobe until I decided to start incorporating them into vintage style coords late 2017. I'm 33 now. I've always loved lolita in the mean time, even though I wasn't actively wearing it anymore. My issues are mostly healed now, so I could wear my lolita stuff if I wanted to but I feel like it would look more appropriate with my physical age if I combined it with vintage to tone it down or go for something more otome styled. But I do remember the websites we had when I was 19. Before I got on egl livejournal there was the Blue Period forum which has been dead since,,, I am guessing 2009. But it was still online earlier in 2017, but I see now it's been taken offline although you can still look for it on the waybackmachine. A bit later there was " lolita snap", a website where you could upload your outfits. There was avantgauche, a uk website that hosted gothic lolita bible scans. The egl livejournal was huge, it spawned a spin off " egl sales" and after that some of the then equivalents to behind the bows which I think started with the livejournal lolita secrets page. Misako Aoki once modelled for bodyline, and I found a bodyline catalog inside one of the glb's I ordered. Older glbs advertised western gothic online shops.
Sariel the Undying (9 months ago)
Honestly I've been into the fashion for years now (since I was like 12, I'm almost 20 now) but have never actually gotten a dress due to having unsupportive parents (a bit less of a problem now that I'm in college) and having no money and being unable to get a job, but I guess being a "lurker" for so long and gathering so much information means that I have a much better idea of what and what not to wear than someone who just found out about it and dove right in. I'll still probably muck up my first coord once I get my first dress since building an actual wardrobe takes time (plus I can't do makeup to save my life) but I'm looking forward to the day I can start wearing it!
Cassandra Darby (9 months ago)
The Great Sariel I’m sorry that your parents were unsupportive. My 11 year old is into lolita clothes and honestly I hope she keeps it up! I would rather have a teenager who looks like a Rococo dolly than looks like a lot of the teens I see.

You always look so sweet, you always inspire me to dress up more💖 I love lolita fashion so much but I don't wear it nearly as much as I want to!
penguu (9 months ago)
I'm happy and sad I didn't get into the fashion until 2016. I'm sad because it feels like I missed out on so much and I feel like I got into it super old (I was 25). I'm happy I waited though. It's so much easier to make purchases from Japan now and buy secondhand without going to meets. I'm also happy because I know my style isn't going to change much. I don't have to waste money 'finding my style'. Hopefully no one will judge me if I'm 35 and still wearing Lolita.
Nova Lee (9 months ago)
I remember when I first started watching you and you hadn't gotten your first brand dress yet. You where the reason I looked around on Bodyline in the first place. I couple of my friends got a good couple of dresses and skirts.

luckily, my first lolita skirt was bodyline's generic carosel print, i didnt buy a petti to go with it until later (because bleh bodyline pettis), but i puffed it up with a bunch of fluffy skirts underneath and it worked for the night. i still have that skirt and i like to put it in some really ott sweet coords, but now almost two years later i've gotten 4 or 5 brand pieces and full coords

Do I have to wear makeup to be a real lolita? :( I don't like iiit, only lipstick...

I loved watching this! I'm not someone who wears lolita but I'm really interested in learning about it, and hearing your experiences over time is fascinating. It reminds me a lot of how things have changed in the BJD hobby, like the way doll companies ship overseas these days and the way styles and trends continue to change. It's really delightful to hear your observations!

XD Please never stop making videos, you are such an inspiration. <3

I've only very recently been aware of Lolita fashion so it was very interesting to watch this video and get a basic summary of how the fashion and community molded and changed over time! Also I just love looking at your beautiful coordinates and adorable plushies!! 😊💝
