In this video, belly dancer Irina Akulenko teaches you how to do hip lifts and a basic shimmy. You'll be shaking it like Shakira in no time. So, now, we are going to go over the basic hip lift. Let's assume our basic belly dance posture position. So, the legs are right under the hip bones. Knees are bent. Lower abs are tucked, chest lifted, arms out. And now you are going to bend the knees even more than before and focus on lifting one hip at a time by straightening one knee at a time. So, as you straighten the right knee, the right hip will come up and it is going to shoot straight up into your body. So you want to think about meeting your hip bone up to the ribcage coming back down to center. Switching over to the other side, straightening that knee, coming back down. Make sure you're keeping your heels on the floor and you are not lifting up with any point. And again, lifting the hip up and back down to neutral position, the other side back down to position. Now, skip that hold in the middle and you're going to go up, and up and up, and up. And, the closer your are to the ground, the easier it will be to find that isolation. Let's try that with music. And a little bit faster, keeping your heels on the floor, chest floating out, arms relaxed. Make sure you are not moving in space and your head is not bopping up and down. And faster. And full speed. And that is the basic hip isolation.

Let me show you the way to do that. You can increase your push up count considerably with this quick and easy routine. First thing you want to do is you want to do some jumping jacks to warm up your body, ok. Just a few. If you can do 25, 30 great. Jumping jacks are simple just like this, ok. Now once your body is warmed up this is the routine you'll really have to do to increase your push up count. The first thing you're gonna wanna do is do diamond push ups to exhaustion and when I mean to exhaustion I mean till you literally cannot push yourself off anymore, ok. And a diamond push up is when your hands are on the ground and it looks like this it's making a diamond. Alright, starting position your arm is straight gonna come down as far as possible gonna push yourself back up. Now again work to exhaustion. Then I want you to wait 30 seconds. Do a normal push up where your hands are normal length. Shoulder width apart, ok. Again you're going to exhaustion. And I'm gonna tell you the reason you're gonna go in this order in just a few minutes. Now we're gonna do wide grip push ups. So your hands are gonna be even farther apart then the normal grip of course. Nice and wide. So in between each of the diamond, the normal and the wide grip you're gonna be taking a 30 second break, gonna be working each to exhaustion. All of those three exercises is one set. You're gonna wanna do three of those every other day and if you're used to where you can do those three exercises without any problems do four sets then five sets then six sets however long you have to go until basic training. Now here's a tip when you're doing diamond push ups you're working your fast twitch muscle fibers in your triceps. When you're doing wide grip you're working your slow twitch muscle fibers in your chest. You're building up your chest your arms and your triceps all on one where you do each of the three variations of push ups. So if you could do twenty push ups before you even start this exercise you should easily be able to do 80 without stopping after you've done a few weeks of this exercise.

So right now I'm going to share with you five advanced techniques, some moves that you might not always think about, but some pretty interesting ways to kind of use your body and coordinate some motion. The first example is something called a rose move, and a rose move is when you actually open away from the walls, that your hips are facing in a different direction. Often times the way the holds are laid out on the wall will dictate whether or not these types of moves are going to be necessary. So the rose move would be when my left hand was here, and I'm crossing underneath with my right hand, turning my hips away from the wall. Another example of an advanced technique will be what's known as a knee bar. A knee bar is when you're using not necessarily your knee, but more commonly the to of your thigh, and you're going to use that thigh and your foot to really create some opposition and allow your body to really be weighted on just that knee bar, and the tension that you're getting between those two points. So right there you'll notice I can take all my body weight and place it right here on this knee bar with my left foot really pushing and getting that thigh up against that hold, which allows me to turn this corner. One other technique would be similar to using a toe hook, except you're using two toe hooks at the same time, which is also known as a bat hang. In this instance, a bat hang allows me to make this change in angle and complete this transition. So that would be a bat hang. Another technique is something known as a bicycle, and a bicycle is where you're using the bottom side of your toe and the top of your toe, which would be a toe hook, at the same time to basically squeeze one hold or two holds together to create that same sense of opposition, almost like closing a vice. So right here I'll use a bicycle on this yellow hold to keep both of my feet up, keep my body in position. So in this position, you can see one leg is pulling, the other leg is pushing the whole time, I have my core involved to help keep those legs up, my body in position. That's how you use a bicycle. The final move here is something known as a drop knee. The drop knee is a great way to kind of lower your center of gravity, and keep it in your base of support, which are the contact points you have with the wall. When your center of gravity is lower, your base of support, it makes you more stable, more capable of doing a move slowly, with a bit more control. So to get into the drop knee, I'll place my left foot on this hold, and then literally turn my knee in, dropping it down, and twisting up. That drop knee allows you to really keep your center of gravity nice and low within your base of support, making your body nice and balanced and stable, really allows you to suck that hip in nice and close to the wall, to get a little bit of extra reach out of that whole system. And those are a couple of advanced bouldering techniques you might encounter here in the gym.

We're in New York. And I'm going to teach you how to tie the Merovingian knot. It's also called Ediety knot. So the way you want to start for this knot, it's a knot that goes around the narrow side quite a few times, so you want to wear the wide end fairly long compared to the narrow end, probably about 20 inches below depending on the length of your tie. So this is how you start. The wide end goes underneath the narrow end. You go over the top once and pull it out on the same side. So this is what you have. Now you go over to the front, underneath through the back, and now you should be in this position so the tie is upside down. So this is a tie from my friend Cara Patrizio from Capelli in Naples, Italy. And this is how you proceed. So your tie is upside down. You go around the back, through the top. You're almost there. Now the last step you have to complete is reverse the knot, loosen it gently, and slide the white part inside the loop that you've created for that. Adjust it nicely. Tighten the knot, and there you go. You have your Merovingian knot. So after spending so much time tying the knot, it's something you don't want to wear when you're really casual. It's really a knot that is used in formal occasions, probably wearing a three piece suit, for example, or a nice blazer. And definitely going with a sophisticated look with this type of knot. The guy who created this knot probably watch Matrix a little bit too much, but this is probably where the name came from, the Merovingian knot.

First of all the marines, they are considered riflemen first. They have more marksmanship training than any other branch, and it has the most difficult basic training regimen. They have the incredible ability to convert dollar power into combat power, as they have no big budget like the Air Force, but they also have lots of military pride. Let's talk about the army, which has the second most intense basic training regimen. They have about three weeks of marksmanship, and recruits can pick from hundreds of different MOS's, which stands for military occupational specialty, and those MOS's translate well into civilian jobs. The navy: deep rooted with tradition, and if you like to travel this is the branch for you. Family men might want to consider the time they are going to spend away from their family though, given the fact that all of the time you are going to spend on ships. Also, if you are claustrophobic, it might not be a good idea to join the Navy, as you are going to be spending a lot of time in tight quarters. If you like large vessels and ships, the Navy is definitely the way to go. They have an awesome inventory of powerful ships. Let's talk about the Air Force. An impressive compilation of machinery and technology. If you are good with computers and technology this is definitely the branch that you should join. It also has the best housing of all the branches too. It's also the most difficult to get into as far as education requirements. The Coast Guard, Uncle Sam's little canoe club. If you like search and rescue missions, if you have an interest in maritime law, if you like environmental protection this is gonna be a good branch for you. You are going to need a high school diploma, and you are going to need to love to swim in order to join the coast guard. And that's it. Think long and hard about your decision because it is difficult to change once you have committed to a certain branch.

He’ll have a harder time hitting you, and the odds are even lower he’ll hit a major organ or artery. Step 2: Barricade the door If you’re trapped in a building with a shooter, lock yourself in a room and barricade the door with heavy furniture. The predator is likely to move on to more accessible victims. Step 3: Find a weapon Find some sort of weapon – a pair of scissors, a letter opener, hot coffee, a stapler, a fire extinguisher. Even if you don’t injure the attacker, you may be able to distract him or throw him off balance. Step 4: Take cover Take cover behind something sturdy, like a file cabinet or a metal desk. Tip Don’t make eye contact with or speak to the shooter. But if he talks to you, respond with an absurd question in the hopes of throwing him off guard. Step 5: Listen for reloading Listen for the 'click' that indicates his revolver is out of bullets, or the metallic clang that means the empty cartridge of his automatic pistol has fallen to the floor. He’ll have to pause to reload, giving you and others a chance to tackle him or escape. Step 6: Slow bleeding If you do get shot, slow the bleeding by keeping direct pressure on the wound. Tip If you think you might pass out from blood loss, place a hard object under your body, just above the wound, and lay on top of it. That way, if you do lose consciousness, your body weight will keep pressure on the wound. Step 7: Fight back If you find yourself unable to avoid a life-or-death struggle with the shooter, go for his most vulnerable areas: gouge his eyes with your index and middle fingers; jab his Adam’s apple; or knee him in the groin. Step 8: Report odd behavior Help prevent shooting rampages in the first place by reporting any odd behavior or threats to someone in authority. Did You Know? I'm Charles from Louis Purple, and I'm going to teach you how to do the Christensen knot, a.k.a. the cross knot. This knot was made popular by Amanda Christensen who used to be a tie maker and who really made this knot popular. So it's still pretty rare, and I would say fairly difficult to tie, but I'm sure with a little bit of practice you will get a hold of it. So this is how you proceed. You want to have the wide end on the right hand side, the narrow end on the left hand side, like usual, except this time you want to have the wide end a little bit, much longer than the narrow end, probably about 20 inches depending on the width and the length of your tie. This is how you proceed. The wide end goes over the narrow end. It goes underneath. You pull it up and slide it inside between the neck and the knot. And you pull it on the left hand side. So this is what you should have. And now the tricky part. Just put your fingers so that you still keep enough room to slide it in after you went twice over and underneath. And then it's a regular way to finish the knot. Once you went twice over the narrow end with your fingers, you don't want to pull it too tight. Otherwise it's going to be hard to slide it in. But this is the result you want to obtain. You adjust the knot. You have this cross shape. That's the particularity about the Christensen knot. I think it's a really elegant look with any tie, even though it works great with skinny ties. So this is how you tie the cross knot, or also called the Christensen knot.

The most important thing is how to finish your flair routine. You're doing all sorts of stuff, bottles are going all over the place, everyone's sitting there like this watching everything you're doing all in awe, how do you finish, how to you pour the bottle? The last thing you want to do is do all this crazy stuff, and then just take the bottle and go like that, it's anticlimactic, it doesn't work. So what we want to do is we want to learn how to do is Flip to Pour. What you're going to do is you're going to hold your bottle in what's called a bartender grip. Instead of holding it like this, we're going to hold it by the neck just like a bartender would take it out of the bottle or out of their well. What we're going to do is we're going to take our bottle, we're going to take our tin, the mouth is going to face up because that's what we're going to pour it into. We're going to take our bottle and you're going to snap it outward, away from your body, and what you're going to do is as soon as you let go of your bottle you're going to simply open your hand and the bottle is going to fall right back into it. It looks like this, it's really easy actually. It's a one-rotation, you're just going to snap, open, and let the bottle fall into your hand It's already in a pouring position. With your other hand you're going to have your tin set here ready to go. You're going to flip, catch, and you're already pouring the bottle. Then as you get more and more comfortable, you go to glass with liquid in it. Because we're flipping the bottle centrifugal force is involved so we want to make sure that the bottle has less than two ounces, or two ounces or less. Any more than that and this move can't be done, we'd have to figure out a different way to pour. Maybe we could take the bottle and throw it around our head, but in this case what we're going to do is, we're going to take our bottle, our tin, we're going to set it, we're going to flip, and we're going to pour. When you're done you bring your bottle down to cut the pour and then were going to just put our tin on the bar. If we're doing shots maybe we'll pour it straight from a tin into our glass. So again, just to reiterate the concept, we're going to take our bottle, we're going to put our tin here, we're going to flip our bottle, catch our bottle, and pour. When we're ready to stop we're going to simply bring our bottle down, we're going to pour it into our glass or whatever we're pouring it into, and that is how you do a Bottle Flip to a Pour.

Warning Seek immediate medical attention if you feel sick, have trouble breathing, experience severe swelling, or exhibit any other signs of an allergic reaction to a bee sting. Step 1: Run Run away as quickly as possible. Avoid swatting or crushing any bees, as this will only worsen the attack. Getting out of there as fast as you can is the best way to neutralize them. Run for at least 100 yards. Tip Don't swat at the bees or wave your arms. Bees are attracted to movements. Step 2: Protect your head As you run, pull your shirt over your head to protect your ears, eyes, nose, and mouth. If you can't do that, use your hands to protect your face, leaving spaces between your fingers so you can see. Step 3: Find shelter Immediately seek the shelter of a building or vehicle. A few bees might follow you indoors, but in a well-lit area the bees can become confused and head for a window. Tip Water does not count as shelter. The bees won't swim, but they'll probably still be waiting for you when you come up for air. Step 4: Get the stingers out Once you reach safety, scrape the stingers out of your skin using your fingernails or any other flat, straight-edged surface. Never pull stingers out with your fingers or tweezers. That will just squeeze more venom into your skin. Step 5: Clean the welts When the stingers are out, clean the welts with soap and water like you would any other wound. Did You Know? The average person can safely tolerate 10 stings per pound of body weight.

Broadway: Now, we're gonna move to what's called a three man, or wing man. Swoop: Three man. Oh, yeah, I could do that. I could do that. I'm a wing. I'm a good wing man. I got a lot of friends, always saying, I'm a good wing man. I'm a good wing man. Broadway: No, no, no way. Swoop: You got a wing already? Broadway: Yeah, 540. Swoop: Oh, OK. OK. Broadway: Mr. 540. The wing man, or the three man, is usually the best athlete on the court. Swoop: Uh-huh. Broadway: So Mr. 540 is gonna do a little bit of everything. Swoop: Yeah. Good, blow through your lips. Blow through your tongue, and shake out your face. Okay. Next, I want you to isolate your lip corners. So, if you isolate your lip corners, you bring them straight back. Kind of this worthless weird grin. And then go into relaxation. Good, now bring them forward. Good, now relax. Next, I'd like you to channel and bunch your tongue. This is a really challenging one so try to use a mirror, and watch yourself do it, and you'll get the muscles. Next, I'd like you to exercise your soft palette, or your velum. It's the part that moves when you yawn. So, I want you to yawn. Lovely, now yawn on the right side only. It helps to use your right hand, and then yawn on the left side only. Good, now yawn on both sides. Good, now you really feel your soft palette, when it feels raised. So, in our accent trainings, sometimes the soft palette will be raised, sometimes it will be dropped, but you know where your soft palette is now. Next, I want you to play with some tongue tip action. So, bring you tongue tip to your alveolar ridge. It's that little gum ridge right behind your front teeth, right here. And, I just want you to go la, and bring the tongue tip down. La, la, great. Now, la, le, li, lo, lu, and you rest your tongue behind your bottom teeth each time. Then, you learn if you learn nothing else from me, this is the trick you want to take away. Okay, so you want to stick your tongue out and articulate a phrase around your tongue. You're overworking the muscles of your tongue. It's like when a baseball player picks up a bat and weight's it before he goes up to the plate, and then when he goes up to the plate, he takes the weight off, and it's easy to swing. This is the same concept. Okay, so your line of text was, "Speak the speech I pray you as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue". Hamlet's Advice to the Players. You want to stick your tongue and say, "Speak the speech I pray you as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue". And, then you stick your tongue back in and it's quite easy to say, "Speak the speech I pray you as I pronounced it to you, trippingly on the tongue". So, practice these articulator exercises every day, five minutes, and then you'll be in great shape for some accent training.

I'm going to demonstrate, and I'm going to first explain to you as easy as possible. I'm going to stay in a fighting stance. First, a volley kick is like a back turn, but this time with an angle, so like this. One. I'm going to throw my back leg up in the air, two. One more time. One, two. It's almost like a roundhouse kick, but you have to kick and try to land with the same leg, something like that. One more time. One, two, three, and these are the drills that you guys can go in the beginning. I like to now to a step four. I like to do my volley kick with my left leg, so I'm going to bring my left leg behind. I'm going to step forward for the momentum, one, one more time. Don't turn your shoulders, make sure. One, turn, bring the leg up, and throw that kick like this. Now it's a little harder if you go slowly. It's actually a lot more easier if you go fast. I'm going to actually demonstrate it now with my partner over here. He's going to be holding the target. Again, beginners, you don't have to go this high, okay? You can hold it like here. This is the best distance for me. I like to stand up, again, left leg back fighting stance, because I'm going to be kicking with my left leg because I'm going to be stepping forward. Now I'm going to step forward and do the volley kick. I'm going to demonstrate, and have a good landing. One more time. I'm in my fighting stance, step forward, and that's how you do a volley kick.

Obviously you've got the jab, cross and then you have the outside leg kick. Those are basic combinations. If I throw a jab, cross and I fire that knee, I have to be ready to sprawl because you're going to be coming in for that take down. Alright? So again, basic combinations. Jab, cross, inside leg kick. Jab, cross, outside leg kick. Or, the jab, cross, follow up with the knee. But remember, be ready to sprawl. It's an MMA fight. He's going to come in for that take down. Alright? Rene: Now, the basic combinations, it depends what you want. If you just want to stay and stand up striking that's great, but some of you want to come in to shoot. So some good combination shoot is double-jab. For a single if you're southpaw, double-jab here, stepping in on your jab. Step in on your jab. And you hit the double. Okay? Another one could be a front hand technique. Switch your feet please. Alright? Could be jab, hook, shoot. So you want to punch off your front hand to cover the distance for your shots.

Step 3: Practice with your eyes closed You’ll probably find that your throws go awry a little at the beginning, so keep practicing until you can throw the ball back and forth with your eyes closed. Step 4: Add another ball Add another ball. With one in each hand, throw a ball as before and—before it comes down—throw the other ball underneath so it lands in your other hand. Practice catching both balls. Tip As you practice, alternate starting with either hand. Step 5: Add a third ball Put two balls in your dominant hand and one in the opposite hand. Toss the balls just as before, but add a third throw right before the second ball comes down. Keep practicing until you can make three throws and three catches. Step 6: Keep throwing and catching Once you’re confident catching all three balls, add a fourth throw and catch, and a fifth one, and so on… Don’t look now, but you’re juggling! Did You Know? We've seen him eat fish, we've seen him pick birds that fell out of their nest. Once in a while, he'll eat a snake, a lizard, anything that he can get his formidable mouth on, he will grab. He does not shoot his tongue, that's a mistake. People think frogs shoot their tongues way up into the air to catch flies that go by. You think Jabba is living on flies here? No, flies are really hard to catch for an animal his size, and we'd have to feed him a thousand of them a day to maintain that body weight. So, instead, he sits there, burns no calories, and waits for food to be deposited. So, therefore, if he's in a terrarium, wow, what a great animal, because no matter what you drop in front of him, he's going to make a meal out of it. It's extremely animated and a lot of fun to watch, and the variety of foods, anything you could find, even something you find outside in the garden, you drop in front of Jabba and down the chute it goes. So, the African bullfrog is a wonder of the pet world these days. You need a pretty good size tank for a guy this big, they will get 2/12 to 3 pounds in size. The African bullfrog.

Throughout the decades that reptiles have been popular pets, I think the number one seller probably has been the green iguana. Green iguanas hold the stigma from those old Japanese B movies, where they put an iguana across a model of Tokyo and pretended that he was Godzilla. Iguanas have fascinated Americans and have become the number one pet, for sure, over the last 20, 30 years. Personally, I don't think they make the best pets. And the reason why is because there is a lot of husbandry needed; these are tropical animals, they require the proper humidity and heat. They need ultraviolet lights, they need a specialized diet. But, really, it's because they sometimes have an attitude. When they get about 6 feet long, a male iguana suddenly isn't as calm as my little friend here. A male iguana will potentially turn on its owner, and establish its territory in the home. If it's in a fish tank, he's absolutely going to be upset. They really have to be outside in an 8 by 8 foot, 8 foot high room, sitting on a limb, looking down on their owner. And then they're perfectly fine pets. But if you want to keep them in a fish tank and approach them from the top, they sometimes get skittish. When they are skittish, the number one thing they do is whip their tail in your direction. The second thing they'll do is try to bite. And the third thing is rake you with their claws. Either one of those things is an event you don't want to experience, because a 6-foot iguana, this guy is about 2, maybe, a 6-foot iguana is a formidable creature that can inflict harm. We also have seen that male iguanas when they get old, when they become sexually mature, turn on their owners because they're territorial and want to establish their own area. And that is usually the time they end up coming back to the pet store, or back where they came from. If no one will take them back, people will let them go. And in northern climates, that's a death sentence for the animal. In southern climates, like Florida, they have procreated, and they have now established, and they are now truly an invasive species. So, I always say, if you want an iguana, please go get one. My choice for an iguana would be the rock iguanas. The rock iguanas are a big bodied creature that comes form the Caribbean Islands. And here I've got a good friend of mine, and the green iguana is scared of him, I would imagine so. This is Castro; he's a Cuban rock iguana. And you see Castro, who is now 15 years old, has a much different temperament than our green iguana friend. A 15 year old iguana would not be as tolerant to be touched in this nature. Castro is not trying to whip me with his tail, Castro is not trying to run away. He is a really sure of himself type of lizard who makes a wonderful pet or companion. We choose not to keep an animal this big in a cage, unless you build something custom for him. They freely can roam a home, and know where to do their business. They're straight herbivores; they love their veggies and fruits, and they really are an incredible companion and pet. We take him to the park and walk him like a dog all the time. So, if you're going to go for an iguana, think twice about the green types. There are some dessert species that are great, but the rock iguanas truly rock. Here's the Cuban iguana, Castro.

Step 1: Plan ahead Plan ahead. Know the location of local shelters and how you'll evacuate if you don't have a car. If you have family members with special medical needs, ask local officials if there's a registry so they get help in the event of power outages. Pick a place for family members to meet in case you become separated, and designate an out-of-town friend as the person everyone calls to report that they're safe. Get flood insurance if you don't already have it. Tip Make sure you know how to shut off electricity, gas, and water in case you're instructed to do so. Step 2: Be prepared Have the following supplies on hand at the start of hurricane season: a 3-day supply of water that provides 1 gallon per person per day; a 3-day supply of non-perishable food that doesn't require cooking; a flashlight and extra batteries; a battery-powered radio that can receive broadcasts from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration; a first-aid kit; and a 7-day supply of medications. Tip The Atlantic and Central Pacific hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30; the Eastern Pacific is from May 15 through November. Step 3: Get ready If a hurricane warning is issued -- meaning one is expected in the next 36 hours -- bring in anything that can be tossed around by the wind; close and board up all windows and doors with 5/8" marine plywood, unless you have hurricane shutters; clear rain gutters and downspouts; trim trees and shrubs; put your refrigerator and freezer on the coldest setting; and fill your car's gas tank in case you're ordered to evacuate. Step 4: Go to a safe place If you live on the first or 2nd floor of a high rise, make plans to take refuge with neighbors between floors 3 and 10 when the storm begins. Residents who live above the 10th floor should evacuate, as should mobile home dwellers and anyone living on a floodplain, near a river, or on an inland waterway. Step 5: Do last-minute preparations Shortly before the storm is expected to start, fill your bathtub with water so you have an extra supply on hand. Unplug small appliances and sensitive electronics, and turn off propane tanks. Step 6: Ride out the storm When the storm starts, stay away from windows and glass doors and avoid using the phone. Go to your home's lowest level and stay in an interior room, closet, or hallway. Have a mattress or pillow to protect your head. Monitor weather conditions on your radio and don't leave your safe place until local officials say it's okay to do so. Step 7: Avoid post-storm dangers If you lose electricity, keep circuit breakers turned off until power is restored, then check for frayed wires. If you see any, call the power company. Leave the house immediately if you smell gas. If you're returning home, don't enter your house if floodwaters remain around the building; you see loose power lines or structural damage; or you smell a gas leak. If you have any safety concerns at all, stay elsewhere until your home is checked by a building inspector or structural engineer. Did You Know? 2/3 of the hurricanes that hit land in the United States between 1981 and 2011 struck the Gulf Coast. The other third hit the Atlantic Coast.

We are very emotional creatures and when we're attracted to somebody, it's very, very difficult to hide. People think they're hiding it, but things always slip. One of the ways they slip are essentially the eyes. There are a lot of different ways you can use the eyes to determine whether or not someone's attracted to you. The first thing is essentially eye contact. For the most part, usually we make eye contact with people that we're interested in or people that we're attracted to. Right? But this is not entirely true. Some people are shy or anxious and they're not going to make eye contact. So what you're looking for essentially is a deviation in eye contact. So one of the ways you can use eye contact and there's a little trick that's very, very reliable. So what you're going to do is if you look at somebody in a bar or restaurant or on the street and they break eye contact vertically, so they look down. So you make eye contact with them and they break eye contact vertically and then within 20-30 seconds they reestablish eye contact, approach them. They like you. It's a very, very reliable thing. Essentially what they're doing. You stare at them. They're submitting to you and then they take a little second glance to see who you are. It's very, very, very reliable. The opposite of that would be if you look at somebody and they look at you and they immediately go and break eye contact. Nope, not interested. But what is reliable is they break eye contact and they come back. Break eye contact and then come back. Break eye contact and then come back. It's very interesting. And don't let it wait. If you see that, go right away because the more and more you wait. The more and more eye contact becomes very, very awkward. One of the things that I do in one of my classes is I have people stare each other in the eyes for three minutes without saying anything. They just stare each other in the eyes like this. Try that. Go out and try to stare somebody in the eyes for even 90 seconds. I guarantee you can't do it. It's awkward. It's so awkward because humans are not really at a level intimacy. When you stare somebody in the eyes is so awkward when you're doing it with a stranger. Studies will show that if you stare somebody in the eyes for 90 seconds to three minutes, all of a sudden you're going to like that person a lot better than everybody else in the room because you kind of shared this emotional connection. So eye contact is important in that respect. The second thing you can look for essentially is blink rate. Now, this is really cool. So blink rate correlate with emotional excitement. When we are emotionally excited, our blink rates tend to increase. Right? Average blink rates tend to be below 20 blinks per minute. For most people it really depends on where you are, but it's really hard to nail down what the average blink rate is. But in my experience, it seems to be around 10 blinks per minute. Right? So you see, whenever you see a sudden spike or a bunch of sudden spikes in somebody's blink rate in can be an indication of attraction. In my dating studies you see blink rates through the roof because the person across the table from you has an emotional response. You're attracted to them. The third way of kind of using the eyes to determine attraction is dilation. It's very interesting. Our eyes dilate when we're attracted to something. Right? Go out and find a Maxim magazine or a Playboy magazine or any cover that's predominately men focusing. Every single woman will have her eyes dilated. You never, ever see them constricted. The reason why is because men perceive women with dilated eyes more attractive than women with more constricted eyes. To the point of back in the day prostitutes used to put a specific toxin in their eyes to make them dilate.

Warning Never practice the Heimlich maneuver on an infant under a year old or on a person who is not choking. You could cause serious injury. Step 1: Confirm choking Confirm the victim is choking. If they are coughing, they are not choking – yet – so encourage them to continue. Signs of choking include the universal hand sign of clutching one's hands to the throat; the inability to cough or speak; labored or noisy breathing; bluish skin, lips, and nails; and loss of consciousness. Tip Don't slap a coughing person on the back – it doesn't help and can make them start to choke. Step 2: Call 911 Once you determine the person is choking, act quickly but calmly. First, send someone to call 911. Step 3: Help the victim stand Help the victim stand, if they're not already on their feet, and stand behind them with your chest to their back. Step 4: Wrap your arms around the victim Wrap your arms around the victim's torso, making a fist with your dominant hand, and center it against the victim's upper abdomen, thumb inward, above the navel and below the rib cage. With your other hand, cover your fist for support. Tip If you cannot reach your arms around their abdomen or if the victim is pregnant, compress their chest between the breasts at the breastbone. Make firm, backward thrusts. Step 5: Thrust inward and upward Quickly thrust inward and slightly upward with your fist, as if you're trying to lift the victim off their feet, causing air to rush out of their lungs. Tip Don't squeeze the rib cage as you thrust upward. Otherwise you could break a bone. Step 6: Repeat Repeat the thrusts until the object dislodges, or the victim loses consciousness. Step 7: Wait for medical help If the object does not come free and the victim loses consciousness, proceed with CPR until EMTs arrive. Step 8: Save yourself To perform the Heimlich maneuver on yourself, lean your upper abdomen over a hard horizontal surface (such as a railing or the back of a chair) and use it to deliver strong, upward thrusts. Did You Know? Besides inventing the famous abdominal maneuver, Dr. Henry Heimlich also invented a chest valve that saved thousands of wounded soldiers in Vietnam.

Step 2: Break the window If you were unable to open your side window, break it with your elbow, heels, or -- better still -- anything pointy you have on hand, like a pen or screwdriver. Aim for the center of the window. Don’t bother with the windshield; it's made to be unbreakable. Tip Hardware stores sell tools specifically designed to break car windows in an emergency. Step 3: Undress If the car is sinking slowly, take off your shoes. If you’re wearing jeans and you have time, remove those as well. Both weigh you down, making swimming to the surface more difficult. Step 4: Get out Climb out the window before the car becomes submerged, and swim to the surface. Tip Memorize the acronym POGO: Pop seat belt, Open the window, and Get Out. Step 5: Wait until car fills If you were unable to get out through the window, don’t panic! Let the car fill with water, knowing that once it does, the water pressure inside and out will be equalized, allowing you to open the door and escape. Tip Hang on to the door handle as the car fills with water so you don’t float and become disoriented if the car flips. Step 6: Open the door When the water reaches your chin, take a deep breath and hold it. Then open the door and swim out headfirst. If you’re not sure which way is up, look for bubbles and swim in the direction in which they’re rising. Did You Know? "Hiji" is elbow and "Waza" is technique. So these are several techniques that specifically lock, or were initially intended to break an elbow. We want to be careful with that because we don't want to injure anybody in our training. But it's always good to know where these techniques came from. So if we start with the basic Gyaku Hanmi grab, again, I'm going to move to the side. Lift, as if I was going to start Nikkyo. Roll the arm all the way over and under. So I should have his elbow tightly clamped underneath my arm. His arm should be higher and directly above his shoulder. As soon as I drop this, my partner can stand up. This is not the effect I want to have. So in terms of leverage, I want to use that elbow to lift. Make sure that my weight is above my partner's shoulder, and I'm going to step back and create an opening that I'm going to take that elbow with me. Partner needs to follow and move with. Once I get down, again, the knee closest to my partner is down, I want to have a good solid connection with my partner's elbow and I'm just going to turn my body to face my partner. That one is Hiji Kime. Another form of Hiji Waza we can use, again, to attack the elbow specifically, I need to remove my partner's hand, Kaiten, and open the space up. I want to use the elbow and I don't want to do it if we're all cramped up on top. Move in, open the space. I'm going to reach directly underneath the elbow, so it's barred against my arm. Take my own forearm, and as you curl both fingers in, that puts a fair amount of pressure in the opposite direction of the elbow. By the time you feel it beginning to hurt, it's generally at the point where it's ready to break. So, please be careful. Attention away, underneath the arm and take your own wrist. Both hands, squeeze. Alright. One more technique that we can use considered Hiji Waza, or Hiji Nage, is a throw. Step to the side and I want to reach right underneath my partner's elbow. You use that leverage to let him go. We'll stand off the line of attack so if he's got somewhere to go, drop and take the elbow and turn. Hiji Waza, elbow techniques.

I'm tied in as a climber, Chaz is clipped in here is the belayer, we've already done our safety checks, I'm ready to start, and while I'm climbing, I'm going to give you five tips for how to lead climb, and how to do so effectively and efficiently. One good tip is before you start climbing, to take some time and really try to identify the route. What I mean by that is to try to look for critical spots on the route where maybe you'll get a good rest or maybe some difficult cliffs. You'll notice another tip is that when you're clipping, you want to be doing so from a balanced position with a straight arm. Having these straight arms to make those cliffs is a great way to conserve energy. As I move up a little farther, you'll notice my arm still stays straight clipping. I'm making that clip with a straight arm, and at this point, I'm pretty comfortable, I've good footholds, and I'm on a big jump hold, so I can shake out my arms a little bit to try to get some of that lactic acid out of there. I'll do the same with my other arm. This type of move, shaking out, can really help you to recover while you're climbing. Another pointer is when to chalk up. So right now if I'm moving into a difficult sequence, I might want to chalk up before I go through it, so timing your chalk ups, when to do it, how often to do it, is something you want to consider. So, on a similar note, while timing your chalking up, to make sure you're not doing it excessively, but just kind of as needed, a good idea is to try to identify a crux of the route, which is the most difficult section, or where you expect to have the most trouble, and rather than stopping in the middle to chalk up, or maybe try to make a clip from an awkward position, try to push through that crux, identify the sequence, chalk, prepare yourself, get a good rest and shake out, and move straight through that crux Another tip would be that while I'm climbing, if I'm so scared of falling the whole time, it's going to make me over grip, which means squeezing a lot harder than I need to be, and putting a lot of weight on my arm that doesn't need to be there. I want to keep it on my feet. So a great tip for lead climbing, is to get comfortable falling. You're going to climb a whole lot better if you're not scared to fall. It'll also make it a lot easier to commit to some of those bigger moves. So those are some tips that are really good for lead climbing to help you move efficiently and effectively.

Step 1: Prepare a bed Prepare a delivery bed for your mother cat with a roomy cardboard box with a top. Cut a hole in the side big enough for the mother to come and go and line the bottom with newspapers. Then cover the box with an old blanket. Step 2: Find a quiet place Find a quiet, private, and warm spot for the bed that the mother is familiar with. The room should be equipped with food, water, and a litter box, as well as any favorite toys. Tip Introduce the mother to her new maternity bed well before she gives birth. This will ensure she doesn't give birth on your clothes. Step 3: Isolate the cat Keep your cat away from other animals in the late stages of her pregnancy -- mother cats can be aggressive. You also want her as relaxed as possible before and during birth. Step 4: Give her space Give the mother space when she goes into labor. You will be able to tell that she's in the first stages of labor because she may start pacing, make loud noises, and repeatedly attempt to use the litter box. She may retire to her bed if she's comfortable there. However, if she chooses another spot, do not try to move her. Step 5: Prepare supplies Prepare the supplies once the mother goes into labor. Gather gloves, warm water, clean towels, dental floss, and petroleum jelly. Cat labor can last up to 12 hours, so make sure you have plenty of everything. Step 6: Don't panic Do not panic if your mother cat makes loud noises while giving birth to the first kitten. Kittens are usually born between 30 and 40 minutes apart. Watch from afar if everything looks stable. Tip If the mother does not break the amniotic sac, tear it using a clean towel; do not use a sharp object. The sac needs to be broken in order for the kittens to breathe. Step 7: Assist with placenta and umbilical Assist cleaning the placenta from the kittens' faces only if the mother does not do so herself. Use a clean towel and wipe the membrane off of the cat, going against the direction of the hair growth with your gloved hands. If the mother doesn't bite entirely through the umbilical cord, tie the floss around the cord an inch away from the kitten and cut on the mother's side of the tie. Tip Don't cut the umbilical cord too close to the kitten, and don't let the mother bite it off too close to the kitten. This can cause infection. Step 8: Use petroleum jelly Use the petroleum jelly on the kitten's passage if the mother has been straining for an hour with no kitten emerging. If at any point before, during, or after the birth you notice strange behavior or have medical concerns, contact your vet immediately. Step 9: Let the mother be Let the mother care for her kittens from this point on. Nature ensures that she knows her new job. And if there are no medical concerns, sit back and enjoy watching those tiny creatures turn into playful wonders. Did You Know? Edwin: Now for the next break, this one is a tap in the back. We're going to use the toe to either tap across or behind. Now for those of you who are interested in getting better as performers, make sure that you always point your feet down. If you keep your feet like this, of course it's an option, but make sure that if you want to develop good habits, always point your feet down. Now we're going to do the last one, which is the shuffle behind. This one is a little bit more complicated, so I want you to pay attention slowly. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three shuffle, five, six, seven, shuffle one, two, three, shuffle five, six, seven and shuffle. So what's happening here is we're going to take three steps one, two and three. On the fourth step we're going to quickly alternate our feet, right/left, and then continue to the right for five, six, seven. And do the same thing on the other side, left/right. Let's try it a little bit faster. Five, six, seven, eight and one, two, three shuffle. Five, six, seven, one, two, three shuffle, five, six, seven shuffle one. Now let's demonstrate all these breaks with music, so here we have the heel, then we have the tap behind and remember, you can cross it behind or send it straight back, depending on your choice. The next one is the scoop and gentlemen, of course you can scoop as well, gentlemen. But for us it's more natural to just bring the knee up. And the last one is the shuffle behind. Tell everyone they're giving out your favorite candy; that way you won't seem greedy when you ask for more. Step 6: Don't eat as you go Resist the urge to eat as you go. [Background Music] There are so many different types of people who live in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is an amazing place because of that. So we're going to go for a very stereotypical, general Brooklyn accent. Just to give you a flavor of it. So you put your lip corners really far forward. And it's a very urban sound. You see? In my oral posture that my lips are doing a lot of the work. It's also fun to notice that the Brooklyn accent, where your lip corner's very far forward, is also very similar to that urban London sound. That cockney sound. So Saul's daughter studied law. You'll notice that it's a very similar shape in the mouth. Let's look at some sound changes for the Brooklyn accent. So there are no r's at the ends of some words. So like, there, player, flatter become theah, playah, flattah. And the ah sound in thought, dog, and law become a diphthong. So they become a two element sound. For thought, dog, law. Sometimes that th sound, thin, thick, this, that become very dentalized. So it's thin, thick, this, that. So you hear those hard, flat sounds. The back of the teeth. Thin. Thick. This. That. You start to hear the musicality of the accent. T's are very dentalized. So they're very pushed up against the teeth. So Tony takes his time becomes Tony takes his time. Do you hear the difference there? Tony takes his time, and Tony takes his time. The st sound in stretch becomes stretch. I love that one. So what's the musicality of this general Brooklyn accent? Well it's a very urban sound, like we'd said. It's got a lot of power to it. You use emphasis with volume, and less with pitch variety. But don't take my word for. Go listen to some native Brooklyn speakers, and let the accent reveal itself to you.

You're in front of five hundred, or a thousand, or three thousand people. How do you do it? Here's the secret: it's no different than speaking to one person. Now, I understand it feels different. It feels scary. But here's the secret great speakers have. It doesn't matter if you love Ronald Reagan as a speaker, or Bill Clinton, or Tony Blair. All different speakers, different styles, different politics, but here's one thing they have in common. When they're speaking or were speaking to ten thousand people, or speaking to two people, they sounded exactly the same. So, here's the big secret when it comes to talking to large audiences: don't change yourself. Because most of us, when we're speaking to one friend or two buddies at lunch, we're animated. We're engaging, we're telling stories, and we're giving examples. Our hands are moving. Our face is moving. We get in front of a large audience, and all the things we do that worked for us, all the things that were interesting that made us easy to listen to, we take that, we ball it up, and we throw it in the trash can. And we put on this fake persona, my fellow delegates it's an honor to be here today. We become stiff and we become wooden. Our voice goes flat. We tense up. We grab a lectern. All these things we do because we're scared. The problem is, as much as I love crutches, these crutches don't prop us up. They bring us down. They make us worse. So, you've got to simply tell yourself you're talking to one person. You've got to use that tone of voice. Because these days if you're speaking to a large room of people chances are you're going to have a microphone, so you don't have to speak like this because that's really annoying. You speak in a conversational tone of voice. Here's the other trick: your eye contact. What a lot of people do is they're like this the whole time. They may be moving, but they have this glazed look in their eye. You don't want to do that. Or, they just zoom in here, zoom in here, and here. It's too mechanical. What you want to do is just look at one spot. Ideally, if you can see people, look at one person for a full thought. That's only five seconds or so. Go to another person in a different part of the audience. Pretend you're having a one on one conversation with that person for a full thought. And mix it up. That will make it more relaxing for you. You'll sound like you're talking to one person. And it'll keep your head from bouncing around and looking nervous and scared. The other final tip is, it's one of those things, the more you do it the easier it gets. Seek out opportunities to speak in front of large groups. Don't be one of these people that says, well I could speak to one person, or I can speak to two people, or I can speak sitting in a boardroom, but I'm not a public speaker so I can't. Baloney. If you've ever had one interesting conversation with one person in your entire life you already have all the skills you need to be a great public speaker in front of ten thousand people.

Jungle Bob is here to show you that owning a pet reptile or amphibian is not as complicated as you might think. In this video, he shares five tips about caring for a red-eyed tree frog. Tree Frogs are very popular pets in the reptile and amphibian hobby, and there are some easy ones to keep, like Dumpy frogs and Green Tree frogs. But if you get bored with those species, it's time to move on to the big game, and that is red-eyed tree frogs. Red-eyed tree frogs are beautiful terrarium subjects. I mean, they're one of our favorites as far as observing them in your terrarium, but they're more for the advanced keeper, in that they are extremely fragile. Just taking a look at some of the skinny little legs on these guys and the very narrow bodies can tell you right off the bat that they are not really the easiest things to keep. They can leap tremendous distances, as you just saw, but it's really more the temperature, the humidity is something you really have to pay attention to when you keep these things in your terrarium. We have a different word these days for terrariums and that is a vivarium, and that's where I would keep my red-eyed tree frogs. A vivarium is different. A vivarium has the substrate or the bedding where the animal comes from. It has plants, hopefully live plants if you could afford it and find a good source for them, throughout the enclosure. But in red-eyed tree frog world, which is a rainforest creature, you have to keep this thing wet, not just moist, I mean wet. Six months out of the year it's got to be soaking wet. So, we often put fog machines, waterfalls, misting systems like you see in the supermarket that mist the vegetables. Something like that that can keep the animal humid. Without humidity, frogs will vanish quickly. So, the red-eyed tree frog is a wonderful vivarium subject, but something not for the beginner. A mistake, even a couple of days of wrong humidity, could be the end of the frog. So, you got to do your homework before buying one of these. And always we try to stress getting them from captive-bred sources. That gives you the most healthy animal out there. The red-eyed tree frog, one of our favorites.

Would you help me out with this card trick? Ann: Sure. Ben: Great. Go ahead and pick any card you'd like. I won't look. All right. Would you do me a favor, just take a look at it. Look at it, look at the camera. Show it to the camera. Memorize it. Picture it. Every detail. Do you have it? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: Excellent. Put it right there on top. I'll shuffle it up into the deck. Do me a favor, Ann. Would you hold out your hand, just like that for me? Good. I want you to pinch the deck, just like that. Just like that with your knuckles. Good. And I just want you to hold on to the deck. Not too hard. Try not to let go, though. You don't have to hold it too hard. You can let your thumb go. Just, yeah, just hold it just like that for me. Okay? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: Nice and square. Hold on. Square up the deck. Good? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: Good. Just like that. Are you ready? Ann: Mm hmm. Ben: I want you to just picture your card, all right. Really focus on it. I'm not going to do anything to you surprising. I'm not gonna try to. Ann: Wow. Ben: Didn't mean to shock you there. Ann: Amazing. Ben: This is actually, this is probably one of the most impressive effects you can do with not all that much complicated slight. First thing you have to do is you actually have get the card to the bottom of the deck. If you'll remember when Ann drew a card, I actually just had her place it right back on top. Show it to the camera real quick, four of spades. Now, using the overhand shuffle control, I'm actually able to guarantee that the four of spades will end up right back on the bottom of the deck. Once it's on the bottom of the deck, you're pretty much good to go. You ask them to hold their fingers. You ask them basically to take the deck from you the same way that you're holding it. That's a good way to get them to take it in the same position without kind of, you know, readjusting their fingers. So do me a favor, just take it just like I'm holding it. Perfect. Now, believe it or not, just a confident smack onto the deck will pretty much knock all the cards out of her hand except for the last one. Ann, I didn't tell you what was going to happen. You did not know that that was going to happen. That card just happened to be in your hand after the slap. That card and that card alone. Correct? By being timid with the smack, what's going to happen is you're actually not going to hit all the cards out. They're only going to slide about half of them down. And then she's going to be left with a third of the deck, or a half of the deck, or a fourth of the deck, whatever, and you're going to have to keep smacking. So basically what's happening with the smack here is, as I'm smacking down on the deck, you really want to make sure you're getting a really good downward motion because that's going to cause all the cards to slide, literally, off of the bottom one. And Ann, she's already told us she did not know to prepare for this. She was not trying to hold on to that card. She didn't even know I was going to slap them. But the slap really does work. And it's a great effect. It's very impressive to the spectator when they're left with their card staring them in the face.

And handling the ball with speed is good because it makes it more difficult for the defender to steal the ball from you. So right now we'll walk through a couple of quick drills that we use on a regular basis that help us to handle the ball faster. First ting we want to do is work on a particular drill and then you want to try to go for speed in it. Right now we have one of our coaches, Jerry, who's gonna time us on these particular drills. Right now Sammy will go for 15 seconds and what'll we'll do right now is he's gonna do his first set for 15 seconds and then we'll have him do a second set to see if he can increase his speed as far ball handling. So right now, Sammy will get nice and low. He's gonna cross over and go behind his back. Every time the ball gets to his right hand, he's gonna count the rep. So I'll count for him right now. Jerry when you tell me to go, we'll go. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Alright. So Sammy did eight in 15 seconds. So now he has a goal where every time he works out he has a point of emphasis in the base as far as trying to exceed his time. Now I'll try to do something a little bit more advanced with the advanced ball handlers. And remember, everything that we do I'm gonna try to do with my eyes closed and head up. Jerry'll give me 30 seconds on this. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, I lose it, I come right back. Eyes closed, chin up. Six. Jerry: Stop. Jason: Alright? So I got to about six and a half. So right now we'll have Sammy finish up to see if he can do it any faster than he did his first set. So again Sammy will have his eyes closed, chin up. He'll get low. Eight is his number to beat. 15 seconds. Jerry: Ready, go! Jason: One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Jerry: Stop. Jason: Alright. So you see? Now, Sammy worked on his ball handling. He was able to get ten. Those are the types of drills that you can do on a regular basis in order to be come a faster ball handler.

Coach Russ here with Chess NYC. Today, we're going to look at a very popular and common question; I'm stuck and what do I do? So after the normal developing moves in the game of chess where we control the center, we develop our pieces, and we castle our king, we get to a position in the game of chess where many people ask the question, what do I do, I'm stuck? I like to teach when you're stuck and you're looking for an idea or a next move in a game of chess, you should look at the three forceful moves. The most forceful move in a game of chess is always a check. So as you continue the game of chess and you're getting out of the opening, the first move we want to consider are checks. How many different checks or how many ways can we check our opponent's king in this position. Let's consider those. So in this position, there's, actually, one possible check. Bishop can take pawn, checking the king. But as you can see in this position, if bishop takes pawn checking the king, the bishop will simply be captured by our opponent's rook or king. So giving up a bishop for a pawn, in most situations, is not a good trade. Then, we can look at our second type of move, which is captures. In this position, we have several types of captures on the board. The knight can capture our opponent's pawn. Once again, bishop can capture opponent's pawn, which is a check we already looked at and considered. And, the third thing is bishop can take our opponent's knight. So we're in a position and we don't know what to do, we can consider captures. And in this position, the only capture that would make logical sense would be bishop takes knight. The third type of forceful move in a game of chess is a threat. So we've looked at, first of all, we look for checks. Are there any captures in this position and are they plausible and that make sense. And after we've looked at both those options, the third option we look for, are there any possible threats. Now, a threat can be you are threatening an unprotected piece, you're threatening a piece of value, you are threatening to incorporate a tactive element, such as a pin or fork, a skewer or an x-ray. In this position, we can simply look at knight goes to D5. The threat in this position is knight threatens knight on F6. And, this knight on F6 is pinned by the bishop. So, that move is actually going to force black to come up with an additional good move and this gives us an idea on how to make our moves in chess. So once again, we're stuck and we're in the middle of a game. We've already controlled the center. We've developed our pieces. We've castled our king. What do we do next? And, I encourage you guys to look for three forceful moves. First of all, look for checks. Second, look for captures. And the third look for threats. Once you've exhausted all of these three options, you should be able to find a good next move in the game of chess.

And people want to talk about the various positions you can have, you can choose when you play the game of soccer. And we're basically have the goal keeper. We have the defenders, we have the midfielders and we have the strikers. The goal keeper of course is the first responsibility is to assure that the strikers won't get the ball behind the goal line and actually score. On the second thought the goal keeper would be the first player to initiate the game, to start the game from the back of the defense. The next line is the line of defenders. Again, even more, the responsibility of the defenders would be to mark up the strikers, close gap some defense and prevent the opposition from goal scoring. The next line would be the midfielders. The midfielders are the once who organize the game. They have defense responsibilities but also offense responsibilities. And they organize the game, they make sure that they close the gap in defense, turn around quickly, open the game to the front to the strikers, get the strikers in goal scoring positions and move up themselves or maybe even choose to finish themselves and try to score. The last one, the most front on the field would be the strikers or the forwards. Of course the idea is to get the ball as quickly as possible into the goal, into the net of the opposition. As a defender you have the whole game in front of you. You have more time usually to open the game. You have more time when you have possession of the ball. You want to open it mindfully to the side not to the center. The midfielders are always moving, always trying to open up, giving opportunities, passing options as well to strikers and defenders. The strikers on the other hand usually have the defender in the back where there's a different kind of play. The want to drop the ball maybe to the midfielder to open up the game on the side but then quickly move into goal scoring position themselves and finish. That's the basic idea of soccer positions and I think it's a good way to start.

Well, they're wrong. If you know what motivates your cat, you can train it. Now, training with Fria today is going to be a little difficult because she's pretty snooty, but I'm just going to see if she has a reaction to her favorite treat bag. That can be a great place to start for coming when called. Many cats know the sound of their treat bag and get excited right off the bat when they hear it. So, let's just see if she wakes up. Oh, suddenly we're interested. Well, it's not an ideal time to practice coming when called. It is a good time to reinforce the association that hearing the treat bag means good things. Now, many cat owners already know about the treat bag effect, but what they don't know is that it's really easy to capitalize on it to teach your cat to come when called. The way to do that is to pair your cat's name with a treat. The great news is since your cat knows the sound of a treat bag or a treat canister, you can build on an already strong association. So, in this case, you might say your cat's name and then give them a treat. So, I'll go like this. Fria and then I crinkle the bag which means a treat is coming and then I give her one. Now first, when you're starting this you want to start right by your cat because they don't really know what you're trying to do. Start at a place where cat and you are most likely to be successful. So, rinse and repeat. Fria, crinkle, crinkle and then give a treat. Now, when you're ready to start working on coming when called you can begin working from a distance. I'm not going to do this with Fria today because she might walk right off the table if she happened to get up, but what you would do is the same type of behavior. Say the cat's name, crinkle the bag and as soon as they come over give a treat. Eventually, the name that you give your cat for this exercise will become as powerful as the treat bag and you'll see that when you give the sound of your cat's name that your cat comes running for that treat. Over time you can stop using food and use scratches or other positive attention that your cat enjoys as a reinforcer. Just remember that it's not normal for cats to come when called in the wild, so it's definitely a behavior that's worth paying for. That's how you teach your cat to come when called.

We're gonna hold the brain for you. So where they, they come from over here or over here. And they are repetitive and why don't you talk about what symptoms they have. The temporal lobe is important because, this is the area of the brain that, a lot of languages in here, memory and processing and even emotions come from the temporal lobe. This is a very delicate area because if you have too many seizures it can actually scar the area in the brain. Or you can be born with a scar or even infection can affect the temporal lobe. And often people who have had a history of febrile seizures or prolonged seizures over a period of time will have a part of the temporal lobe become smaller over time and then more prone to generate more seizures. What's interesting about temporal lobes, seizures is that they can start out not looking like the seizures you think of, with jerking or twitching. There could be confusion, mumbling, feeling funny, gastric uprisings, anxiety, deja vu. A deja vu feeling is very common, stomach upsets. And what happens with temporal lobe seizures is, people often mistake them for something else like a psychiatric disorder, panic, anxiety. And they don't get treated for a long time because people don't realise they are actually seizures. And the part of temporal lobe seizures is that they start in this area and then they spread to other areas of the brain. And that's when you can see the jerking and twitching. Right, so it starts late in the process. So this will be called a partial complex seizure. Where they start in one area of the brain, the temporal lobe; you get these funny feelings and sensations, whether its fear, anxiety, deja vu, confusion, memory issues. And then it get spread into other areas of the brain and spreads. So that's a typical example of a partial complex seizure that comes from the temporal lobe.

Step 1: Get a partner While belly dancing and ballet can be done solo, ballroom dancing is always done in pairs. Ask a friend to help you out. Step 2: Perfect your posture Perfect your posture. Unlike casual dancing, a ballroom dancer doesn’t slouch or lean on their partner. Both the man and the woman must elongate their neck and body. Practice correct posture by standing straight against a wall. Step 3: Position the head Look over each other’s right shoulder. Now imagine you’re the most beautiful person on earth who has just met the other most beautiful person on earth. What’s that feel like? Exactly. Keep that expression throughout the dance. Step 4: Adjust your hand position Hold hands correctly. This means the man’s raised left hand holds the woman’s right hand, palms facing each other. The man’s right hand connects with the woman’s shoulder blade. His hand should be cupped, fingers together. The woman’s left hand should be on the man’s right shoulder, her fingers at the seam of his sleeve. Step 5: Position your body Having the perfect 'closed dance hold' means the woman is just slightly to the right of the man. This way the legs move between each other and the knees don’t hit. Tip When the couple is a man and a woman, the man generally takes the lead. In couples with just one sex, a decision will have to be made. Step 6: Draw a square on the floor Now that you have the basic positioning, learn the basic waltz box step, the most common step in ballroom dances like the rumba, waltz, or foxtrot. Start by taping out a small box on the floor. Step 7: Practice counting Practice counting one, two, three, one, two, three, one, two, three. This will be the essential timing, and the sooner it feels natural, the better. Step 8: Make a box with your feet Practice alone making a box with your feet. To make the first half of the box, step forward with your left foot — which is 'one' — and slide your right foot to meet it and then step to the right (two). Your weight now shifts to the right foot so your left slides to meet it (three). Step 9: Finish the box Now finish the box. Step back with your right foot (one) and slide your left to meet it and then to the left (two). Your weight now shifts to the left foot so your right slides to meet it (three). Tip If you’re in the women’s role, you will step backward to start. Step 10: Practice counting to music Now put it together, doing the box step by yourself in time to your one-two-three counting. Step 11: Practice with a partner Now practice with a partner. Count off five, six, seven, eight before you begin so you’ll both be prepared to start together on one. Tip Dancing is a close contact sport. Make sure your breath is okay before you start. Use a breath freshener. Step 12: Move around the floor After you feel comfortable with the box step, forget confining yourself strictly to the box, and let yourself move more naturally around the floor. Step 13: Start to turn Once you’re able to loosen up while keeping time with the beat, try turning. Turn slightly to the right as you step on one and two; you’ll begin traveling in a circle as you keep your basic box pattern. Step 14: Remember to maintain posture Remember to maintain your posture at all times, keeping your connection points. Stand up straight, Quasimodo! Good ballroom dancers never slouch or disconnect. Step 15: Practice every chance you get Now that you know how to do a basic waltz box step, practice every chance you get. This is just the beginning. Get out there and dance, dance, dance! Whenever I think of pinched harmonics the first person I think of is Billy Gibbons the guitarist for ZZ Top. A lot of other great players have made nice use of pinched harmonics as well. One of the things to keep in mind is that there are harmonics five, seven, and twelve frets away from every note as well as in other positions. For more details, I did do another Howcast lesson on harmonics, so you should check that out. Let's look at the position of the second fret, F sharp minor. My clearest harmonics here are twelve frets away. That's the fourteenth fret. So, just for demonstration, I'm going to use my first finger and I'm going to pick each harmonic. If I were to tap those it would sound like this. Okay. So, these aren't good for pinched harmonics because it's very hard to pick up here. What I want to do is go twelve frets higher, right. One two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve. Now, here I start to run out of room. So, I have to use the pick-up or the body of the guitar to memorize where I am. Now, using pinching technique I can find the harmonics. So, I'm just picking the note. As I pick the note my thumb is supposed to go over the harmonic. Now, I have to find this. No. There we go. Okay. So this is easy to remember because on this guitar it's pretty much right in the line of the pick-up. On another guitar it might be above the screw of the pick-up, and it's going to be in a different place for each key. A big part of this is memorizing where the harmonics are on the guitar. But since I know where the main harmonic is for F sharp I can figure out where the rest of the notes are. Alright, it's rough, but basically that's this pentatonic and harmonics. When playing pinched harmonics it really helps to be on the treble pick-up. It helps to have a lot of distortion, too. I can continue through the scale and play harmonics. Okay. Having mapped out the harmonics I can now play some licks and just throw in pinched harmonics here and there. Check it out. So, with pinched harmonics you sort of have to guess where they are. You're not going to nail them every time, but when you do nail them they sound cool. I hope you've enjoyed this lesson on pinched harmonics.

Now let's try the travelling hip twist. Keeping the knees bent, just lift, the lower abs engaged, tailbone down. We're going to twist front to back, keeping the movement horizontal to the floor. So we're just twisting the hips. Now we're going to just take a step with the right foot, crossing the left behind. And again right, and crossing behind, right, crossing behind, and make sure you are taking very small steps keeping the movement right underneath your hip bone. We're going to switch the footwork. We're going to start with the left, crossing the right behind, and left, right behind. And again, keeping it really small. The smaller the movements are, the easier the hip work will be. Now, we're going to combine the two movements together. We're going to bring the hip back. We're going to release the right foot, so this is the right side that's active right now. We're going to step into the right leg and push the right hip forward into a twist. Then we're going to bring the left foot behind, bringing the hip back. And step forward, cross back. And forward, cross back. And forward, cross back. We can switch the movement, as well, so starting with the left foot, we're going to bring the left hip back, lifting the left foot off the floor, stepping onto it, pushing the left hip forward, and bring it back. Step forward and back. And we're focusing on one hip at a time where the other hip is obviously working. So, let's try that a little bit faster, and try it with music. And forward and back. And left, cross, left, cross, left. And this movement is a little bit easier if you're travelling faster, if you come up on your toes. So, starting with the right hip, and forward. And remember to keep the knees slightly bent no matter what. Chest is lifted. And faster. And that's how you travel with a hip twist.

I'm going to talk to you today about the three principles to opening strategy. So when we get to the game we're always like, 'Uh, what do I do? There's so many pieces. I don't know how to start." Well I'm going to give you three steps that are going to help you create a strong, confident opening. First thing that we need to understand is these four center squares. These are considered a super square because this is where the center of the board is, the control center. For example, if I have my knight in the center of the board, my knight can control up to eight different squares, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. We can see that this is a very strong place for my knight. If I have my knight on the side of the board it can only control up to four squares, 1, 2, 3, 4. Therefore, my knight is stronger in the center whereas most pieces are stronger in the center of the board. So at the beginning of the game you want to think about center control. First thing we can try and do is get our pawns into the center. Very important to try to get our pawns to control the center. The next important step that we want to focus on is piece development. Now I like to think about my pieces as they are working for me. I want to give my pieces a job. If they're sitting back here they're not happy and they're not doing anything. So my next step is to bring my pieces out and have them working for me. Usually we bring out the knights before the bishops. So I can bring my knight to F-3 and my other knight to C-3 and then I'm bringing them towards the center. Notice how I did not bring my knight to H-3, that would not be a good choice. Towards the center. Next, I want to bring my bishops out, again towards the center controlling the center squares. The next step that we always want to consider is king safety, very important. I like to consider the king like a baby. The reason I consider the king a baby is because we always want to protect our babies just like we always want to protect our king. Therefore, the best way to protect your king at the beginning of the game is to castle. Now we have two places, two ways that we can castle. You can either castle on the king's side or on the queen's side. Right away I can see that I can castle on the king's side. To castle I move my king two spaces and then bring my rook to the other side and now my king is stuck behind a little fortress or, to keep with the theme of a baby, a crib and it is protected and safe. Just to review, the three important principles are controlling the center, piece development, and king safety. Those are the three things that we can do at the beginning of the game to go into the middle game confidently.

Speaker 2: Friends. A lot of people ask if it's a good idea to get a friend for their pet rabbit. We love when people get friends for their pet rabbits because rabbits are social animals who live in social groups in nature and they really enjoy the companionship of their own species. It's not so easy however to introduce rabbits and a lot of people have disastrous results and they call us after the fact instead of asking for advice beforehand and what happens is, they go to the pet store and they say, you know, "I have a female rabbit and I want to get a friend for the rabbit" and the pet store will say "Well, put the rabbit with another female, that way you won't have litters or whatever" and they sell the person what's supposed to be a female, it ends up being a male, the people have a litter a month later, so that's one possible ending. Another possible ending is they give them another female and the rabbits just don't get along and the person has no idea how to change this situation. So what we tell people when they want to introduce their rabbit to a friend is first of all, both rabbits need to be spayed and neutered so that they cannot reproduce and so that the hormones that drive them to reproduce will not be affecting their behavior when they're together. And what we do when we're introducing rabbits is house them side by side for a couple of weeks. In side by side pens with just enough air in between that they can't touch each other through the pens. And then we slowly introduce them and we do it by putting them in a constricted area and we wear shoes on our hands, tennis shoes on our hands. And we keep the rabbits from any kind of aggressive behavior and the minute they show any sign of aggression we plunge our hands down with the shoes on them to separate the rabbits. That way we don't get bitten, the rabbits don't get hurt, it's very easy. This is a bonded pair here now. These rabbits have been living together for a couple of years. This is a little Lion Head and this is a little Netherlands Dwarf. They're good buddies, bonded rabbits will huddle together, they'll eat together, they often do something called mirroring behavior where one rabbit will sit up and shake his hands and start to groom himself and the other rabbit will then sit up and shake his little paws and start to groom himself. Speaker 1: Copy cats. Speaker 2: Copy cats, copy rabbits, copy buns. And you'll see that in a bonded pair. It's really fun to have a bonded pair because you see behaviors that you don't see with single rabbits. One thing that really interests me is that even in the heat of the summer, these rabbits will lie together body to body, tight as can be when it's 90 degrees outside, they'll push their little bodies against one another in that heat and it doesn't bother them at all. They would much rather have the company of a bunny... Speaker 1: Oh, really? Speaker 2: ...than the coolness of separation. Yeah, it's really very touching to watch, actually. Speaker 1: You do have to consider that it's double the cost, right? I mean, it's... Speaker 2: It is double the cost. It's not double the space. Speaker 1: No, but the veterinary, I mean if you take them to the vet. Speaker 2: That's right. That's right. Speaker 1: The carriers, it's just more, but... Speaker 2: Well, not more carriers. If you take them to the vet you should be able to take them in one carrier. Speaker 1: Okay. Speaker 2: But the vet bills, the vet bills for sure, that's a big consideration. Speaker 1: Yeah, right. Speaker 2: If one gets sick, they're in contact with the other one, the other one is likely to get sick too, you may end up with two vet bills. So you do have to pay attention. Again, this is like the working barista's type of latte art. You're pouring it as you're making drinks for customers. It takes no more time to pour a free pour design than it would be to pour a drink without latte art. Here's some basic quality benchmarks we're going to talk about. Again, we mentioned the really nicely textured milk. We want to see a nice, crisp white design without any beige. Nice and centered in the cup. These are things we value in free pour latte art. Let's show you some good and some bad examples of these things, and then we'll move onto actually pouring some designs. Again, an appropriate amount of milk in the cup. First things first. I'm going to swirl my crema just to make a nice even pallet, and swirl the milk. This the first lesson we want to learn. You want to have nice, really finely textured milk before you begin. If we don't, it'll just never wind up being the way you want it to look. I'm just going to start with a basic dot in the cup with milk that isn't quite as good. Here, we can see see a lot of pock marks and a lot of visible bubbles. The edges aren't very crisp. There's a lot of dots and speckles here. This milk isn't terrible, but it's not quite as good as it could be. We're going to make sure we're a little better than this when we start to pour our designs. We have our milk right for this one, but I'm going to show what happens when you get more beige and less of that crisp white. You only get that nice, crisp white latte art when you're about this close from the spout of the pitcher to the liquid in the cup. We tilt the cup so we can get as close as we want, as soon as we want. If I don't, you'll see how no matter how low I get the pitcher, you get a lot of that beige before the white eventually pops out. All this stuff around the edge you want to get rid of, and we do that by tilting the cup and getting really close with the spout to the liquid in the cup. Once you have great milk quality, and you can tilt the cup, we'll get that nice crisp design were looking for. I'm going to pour from slightly higher. Fill the cup up about half way and drop down to let the foam spill out into the middle. Here, we have a nice centered dot. Crisp and white with great foam quality. All the free pour designs we poured today will involve these principles. We're going to have great milk. We're going to get right down, really close to the surface of the liquid in the cup with the pitcher before we even begin pouring. That's going to bring all these designs into this really nice, centered crisp area where you want them.

The military has its own acronyms and terms. Each branch has its own too. But here are some terms you are going to hear no matter what branch of service you are in. First and foremost, most familiar, PT stands for physical training. Also recycled. I hope you never hear this term, but it means you are going to have to join a unit a few weeks behind you because you didn't perform to standard. Basically you are gonna start all over again. Hope you won't have to hear this term: "getting smoked," but I'm afraid you're gonna have to. It's when your drill sergeant wants you to do physical exercise to exhaustion for something you probably have not done wrong, but they're gonna blame you anyway. PX or BX stands for post exchange or base exchange, where you are gonna get your supplies, like your toiletries. Your LBV, which stands for load bearing vest. You use this to carry a lot of your equipment over your body. Click stands for kilometer or distance - one thousand meters or point six two of a mile. Another term I hope you don't have to hear is AWOL. It means you are absent without leave or basically you left without permission. Some people do that. NCO. Me. Non-commissioned officer or sergeant. An enlisted person with command responsibility over soldiers of a lesser rank. NBC, also what I am. NBC stands for nuclear, chemical, and biological operations. OCS - Officer Candidate School. OSA - One station unit training. Typically your specialty school after you do basic training. And directly after you do basic training. Here's a fun term, exodus, a break in training. Usually you will hear this term around Christmas time when recruits get to go home to their families. They call it "exodus" because the volume of people leaving is referred to as an exodus. POV - Privately Owned Vehicle. You probably won't get to use one at basic training, but after you graduate you might have access to one. Now let's talk about some slang terms. BCG stands for birth control glasses. The military-issued glasses are very ugly. Guaranteed when you wear them nobody will be sexually attracted to you. ETA - estimated time of arrival. FUBAR. It means you are f*cked up beyond all recognition. Up-dog. If your drill sergeant comes up to you and says "Up-dog" don't respond with "what's up dawg?" They don't want to hear that. Just say "yes drill sergeant." Don't fall for that trick. There are many more, but these will get you started on the right track..

For instance, nearly every university will take credits from English composition, lab sciences, and a nonremedial math class. Step 4: Think about a major Even if you haven't declared a major yet, narrow your interests to one field and take related courses. It will demonstrate to universities that you're focused. Step 5: Make the grade Keep your grades up – you'll need them to transfer to your university of choice. Some state schools offer guaranteed admission to students with high grade point averages from certain community colleges. Step 6: Meet with your top schools Contact the admissions offices of the schools you'd like to attend for information, and ask them exactly what you need to do to be considered. Step 7: Look into financial aid Check out all your options for loans, grants, and scholarships. Talk with the financial aid offices at all of the colleges you are seriously considering. Also, look online. Type "financial aid," your state, and the university into a search engine, or head to "fafsa.ed.gov":http://fafsa.ed.gov for federal aid options. Step 8: Apply When you have enough credits, apply for your transfer. All schools have different admission requirements and deadlines, but you'll likely have to fill out an application, provide copies of your high school and college transcripts, and submit recommendations.
